The Makeup Store Nail Polish "Madeleine"

So here is what The Makeup Store's holographic nail polish in "Madeleine" looks like....

It is VERY similar to China Glaze Collection "FYI" but with a little more pink than brown.

It retails for $25.00 AUD ($22.50 if you are a VIP member) so in comparison to what i can get China Glaze for ($9.95 @ the beauty supply) it's a bit pricey... :S

In comparison to the China Glaze it also has it's fair share of pros and cons.

PROS:

  • it has a nice wide brush
  • the formula glides on with ease!
  • when layering coats it doesn't get splotchy like CG does, eg the first coat seems to come off whenever i apply CG second coat -this one doesn't do that.
  • excellent finish, the holographic effect is just as awesome as CG, if not better. i find that CG sometimes goes dull when i put a top coat on.
  • i love the packaging!!!

CONS
  • the cost... $22.50 compared to CG for $9.95....
  • i actually had to put 3 coats to get a nice finish, as opposed to CG which only needs 2
  • the smell is VERY strong!!! i got a massive headache after doing my nails.

All in all i am quite impressed with this nail polish, it definitely surprised me as i wasn't expecting to like it so much.

if you can afford to spend the money, or you don't have access to China Glaze in your area i would totally recommend it!

and now for some nail art......

SYDNEY TRIP number 2 with HUBBY!!! ;p

So Hubby took me to Sydney for a weekend trip since he has been working 3 jobs and i have been workin 6 day weeks plus doing night school and we haven't really spent any quality time together in a while.

The Friday night before we left, the apple iPhone was released in australia and hubby got one. So he wanted to go visit the apple store in George St, Sydney....

When we got there we couldn't believe how many people were still lining up to get an iPhone! The line was all the way around the corner and weaved in the store. Then when you went upstairs it was just as packed. You could barely move.

So anyways what i looked at was The Makeup Store and MAC.... (of course)

I didn't really buy alot of colour cosmetics but i was on the lookout for a really nice chocolate brown pigment and a black pigment. AND i found them at the makeup store!!! WOOT

THis is what i bought!

In it's boxes from left to right:

Back: MAC brush cleaner, Make Up Store primer, Make Up Store matt foundation in Vanilla, Make Up Store face mist, Make Up Store Cleansing water

Front: Makeup Store face powder, MAC blush, Makeup Store pigments, MAC Lustreglass and Makeup Store flat top round rouge brush.

Same as about but out of the packaging!

Makeup Store pigment in "Devil Dust" and "Celebration"

Micro loose powder in "Chocolate Milk"

MAC blush in "Style"
MAC Lustreglass in BEAUX (my FAVOURITE colour!!!) , Makeup Store Face mist (it felt SO good on my face and smelt so GOOD!!), Makeup Store Cleansing water - this stuff takes makeup off so EASILY and it made my skin feel super soft!!
Makeup store primer - this stuff feels SO smooth and light not like other ones i have used previously PLUS it's in a pump bottle as opposed to a squeeze bottle , Makeup Store Matt foundation.
Mac brush cleaner: pretty self explanatory! I know some people say it ruins your brush etc etc but i like to know that all the bacteria on my brushes are gone! ;p
And finally swatches: MAC blush in Style, Makeup Store "Celebration" and "Devil Dust"

The Makeup Store

Left to right: Translucent powder, Foundation, eye primer, loose powder

I FINALLY tried out the products from "The Makeup Store" which i brought on the school makeup trip!!!

The foundation felt SO nice on my face but it definitely more of a sheer coverage..... so i now have a sheer cover foundation and a heavier one (the MAC foundation that i originally had).

The loose powder was ok, it is a very fine powder but it just didn't have the staying power that i am used to. but as i said before all the products still feel really nice on the face. Sometimes i find that the MAC ones are a little heavy and tend to make me feel like my pores are building up dirt....

The eye primer was AWESOME!!!! it literally made my eyeshadow stay put COMPLETELY....!!! Even after 12 hours it still stayed put and i have tried everything i can to make it stay that way but nothing ever did til now!......

I LOVE these shimmers but am yet to find a really good base colour for me...... everything i try is either too white or too pink..... i am still on the hunt! ;p

Anyways that's all for me.... a really short one..... and i'll end with this REALLY daggy photo!!!!

hEHe!>;p
